Almost there, T - 8 weeks and counting

Hi everyone. Sorry its been awhile since the last post, work's been silly busy. But here's a pict of mom at 32 weeks and 4 days. So, just a little under 8 weeks to go. Though, the average on a person's first baby is a week late, so 'they' say.

The baby is still doing fine, kicking and everything. The doc can tell that she's upside down now. She should stay that way for the rest of her stay.
Dad's been reading to her at night before bed, which she seems to enjoy.

Even Bigger

Here we are at 29 weeks and 1 day. The baby should be about 3lbs. I've been instructed to count how much she kicks in an hour to make sure she does it at least 7 times in an hour. Yesterday she kicked me 83 times in one hour. So far 'not moving enough in an hour' has not been a problem.

Halloween Costumes

Here we are in our Halloween Costumes. One of them is home made and one is not, I'll let you be the judge. Yep Kristin is an oven, ha ha bun in the oven get it ? John is the chef, ha ha. Hilarious. Well that's about it, hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

Bigger Yet

Well here is mom at 25 weeks and 2 days, even bigger. The baby's stats should put her at an average of 1.5 lbs and about 8 and 3/4 inches from head to rump in this week. Her heart beat is still good and measurements on the outside of mom have all been ok'ed by the doc (weight/belly bigness).
On Monday we started our 6 week course on childbirth/child care (it only meets on Mondays). We got to watch a birthing video, isn't that great!? You bet it was (ewwww).
You may see what looks like part of an oven to the left of mom in the picture. I'll let you in on what that's about in the next posting, after this weekend.

Sampson's help with the baby room

I wouldn't normally put up a picture of a dog on the baby page, but I felt the need to share the amount of effort that Sampson is giving in getting the baby's room ready. As you can see man's best friend is ready for action anytime the family needs an extra set of paws.

More Growing / Baby Moving

We're now at day 2 of week 21. I can feel her moving around now and then. You can't really tell from the outside yet, but I can feel her moving around inside, not sure exactly what she's doing. She's actually very active right now as I'm typing. John and his friend are playing a shooter game, maybe she wants to play too.
Otherwise, I can still wear the draw string capris pants. Normal shirts don't quite fit all the way around the belly, but I have enough maternity shirts now to make it between laundry days. The books say I'll gain about 1 lb every week from now until the baby is born. Yay, weight gain! Super! Fantastic! We put up some Registry links, you'll see them to the left of this screen under the Links heading. You don't have to send us anything, but you can if you want too. But anything, big or small, is very much appreciated.

Making the Crib look Fly

Well the baby wanted new threads for the crib, yo! So we went shopping and found a cute pattern that didn't have too much pink to it. Its Pooh Bear with his friends. Its mostly pink and green, but not a crazy amount of pink. The comforter's butterflies, leaves and flowers have an extra flap of cloth so that its more 3D and can be moved back and forth, which might be fun when the baby gets older. Well thats all we have for now, until next time ... :D

Latest Ultrasound

Well its been a long time, but the latest ultrasound pictures are here. The first news, which I'm sure you've all been waiting for, is an update on the babies health. The ultrasound that was used was pretty awesome, the have one on the ISS. It can show really great detail and there is a setting that lets you pick a color of moving fluid, while its moving on the screen. So, we got to see the tiny 4 chambered heart pump blood. The spine, kidneys and umbilical chord arteries all looked good aswell. Her, that's right HER, bladder was full during the ultrasound, as the doc pointed out on the screen. Now I'll go over what you see in the pictures. The first picture is the baby sucking her thumb, you can see some bones in her face and some baby back ribs, ha ha ha. The second picture is the baby with her fist under her chin (like the thinker). The third picture is a zoomed out picture of the baby, you can see the spine and most of the baby. I removed the fourth picture since it appears it was from a previous ultrasound and somehow they just gave it to us anyway. It was of a baby's foot, but I still gaurantee that she still does have feet. In case you've missed my subliminal messages, the baby is a girl. We are very happy that she's healthy and can't wait to meet her when she arrives. We will register for things and think of names now, we'll add a link to the registry to this site, if you're interested.

Yep, still growing

Well week 17 is here and mom is even bigger. I can still wear my draw sring capris pants, though, see. I have gotten a few maternity shirts since some of my weekend t-shirts have gotten too tight . Just taking this picture so we can see the difference between this week, the last picture we took, and future pictures. So, check for the next sideways pict to show up in about a month or so. This picture will aslo go along with the ultrasound picture we should be getting this Thursday, so check for that on Thursday.

No Power, No Problem

Well Edouard didn't give us too much rain or too much wind, but that didn't stop the power from going out for 2 hours. So what do you do when you're off work and there's no power to watch tv or play video games ? Well that's easy, you make baby furniture. Duh. Thanks to the time off, courtesy of Edouard we now have a crib, changing table and little dresser complete.

We decided to use the 'office' as a baby room, its the room right next to ours. Its smaller than a full bedroom, but babies are small, right? So its a little bedroom for a little person. : )

Latest Ultrasound

Hot off the presses, from the doctors office to this website, the latest baby pictures. The baby is now 12 weeks and 4 days along and is about 2.5 inches long, from head to rump, with heart rate of 158 bpm, sounds fast but the doc says thats a good rate. Hopefully you can tell where the head is. The floating object slightly up and to the right is a little hand saying hello or clenched in a fist expressing its frustration with being squished around by an ultrasound wand. The object near the bottom sticking straight up is a leg. for some reason the foot doesn't show in this picture. But in the office you could see it pressed against the right wall as if it was doing a squat. The doc says that in about 5 weeks we should be able to tell what sex the baby will be. The doc also says that the baby looks healthy; in that the chord is attached to the placenta in a good place, apparently there are places you don't want it to attach, and the different measurements they made in the spinal area and stuff looked good. The baby was being stubborn for quite a whlie in not moving into a position where they could take these measurements, it took some coughing from me and some swirling around of the ultrasound wand for it to actually rotate to a good position. Before it did so it did a pretty strong shake of its body and fist and then started moving around a lot to where it finally settled in a place they could take measurements. Long story short, the baby has already taken after its daddy.

Mom is growing

Well its the end of the first trimestery and mom has already started growing a bump. The baby may only be about 3 inches long ,but that didn't stop the bump from showing. Now is the belly expanding to make room for the baby or is it the lack of step class ? If you're in ear shot of mom you better vote on the side of growing for the baby. The old pants are now too tight, but the prego pants are real cumfy and the ole' drawstring capris work well too, as you can see. Mainly took the picture so we can compare 12 weeks to the later weeks, which are coming along quickly.

Baby is on its way

Hi everyone, we've got some good news. We've got a baby on its way, see look ------------->
Our due date is February 8, 2009. Well that's why I've been sick lately and a fussy eater. John and I are very happy and hope everything keeps going well. So far so good, there was a strong heart beat and the baby was doing tiny sit ups. We won't know the sex of the baby for a couple more months, we'll keep you posted.
